Our joint mission to save the Berdychiv Sports Lyceum continues. I am doing everything possible to preserve this educational institution, which is only beginning to develop, but already has its own history, traditions, and most importantly – significant sports achievements.
It is encouraging that the regional authorities are willing to listen and are open to constructive dialogue – this was confirmed yesterday by Natali Ostapchenko, First Deputy Head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, during our joint meeting with the parents and teaching staff of the Sports Lyceum.
We have put emotions aside and are proceeding strictly within the framework of current legislation.
In any case, the decision to close the Berdychiv Sports Lyceum was unjustified and premature, as the proper procedure was not followed. The main goal now is to reach a consensus on preserving the institution’s human resources and to give the children the opportunity to complete their studies.
For now, I won’t disclose all the information, as we agreed to allow 10 days for further study of the issue, but we already have some positive developments. All of my actions are coordinated primarily with the parents’ committee and the teachers of the Sports Lyceum, as I represent their interests exclusively. I find it surprising that the deputies of the Zhytomyr Regional Council from our district, who were the loudest in declaring their love for education and teachers, have now “washed their hands” of the issue.
We are hoping for positive progress. I thank the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration for their cooperation and understanding.
